Summary: Harold Gaynor offers Anita Blake a million dollars to raise a 300-year-old zombie. Knowing it means a human sacrifice will be necessary, Anita turns him down. But when dead bodies start turning up, she realizes that someone else has raised Harold’s zombie–and that the zombie is a killer. Anita pits her power against the zombie and the voodoo priestess who controls it.
In The Laughing Corpse Anita will learn that there are some secrets better left buried-and some people better off dead…
The world continues to go on, while Anita Blake goes hunting. This time though, she ain’t hunting her usual vampires, but a zombie killer who goes around eating humans. The zombie seems to be smarter than a ‘normal’ zombie, and have the strenght to rip apart a body. Not only is Anita hunting a zombie, but Harold Gaynor, who wants her to raise a 300 year old zombie, offers Anita a million dollars to do it, which she refuses to do considering it means a human sacrifice will be necessary because it’s so old, really want her to do it so he keeps comming at her. Comming at her means sending his bodyguards. And that’s not the only problem Anita is having.. She got one of the most powerful voodoo priestess after her as well.
Anita Blake keeps up her reputation, and more. She realizes there is more to her than what she thought. Her powers keeps growing. Anita continues being snarky, strong and just simply awesome. She got the hots for sexy master vampire Jean-Claude, but she refuses to go futher with those feelings. He wants her to be his human servant, which Anita wants no part of! She just wants him to leave her alone.. But of course he won’t do that. Jean-Claude is a freaking master vampire with serious powers, who is used to getting what he wants.. And he wants dear Anita.
I was a little disappointed in this book. I mean, there was a hell of a lot of action, something happens all the time… But what i was disappointed in was that Jean-Claude was not much in it.. I kinda fall for the vampire, so i need him to be more in the books.. Other then that, the book was awesome, and i can’t wait to read what will happen next! 🙂
